I keep forgetting this is my personal site

As in, every time I open up my site on Neocities or my source files to edit or make something, I keep thinking to myself that I need to make sure that everything is spelt correctly or that I need to make sure my language is appropriate or that maybe I shouldn’t write this article ’cause it might not be that interesting to everyone else.

Eventually, I realize that this is my personal website, it’s my corner of the internet, and I can do whatever the fuck I want to do on it, all I have to do is make sure is that it’s readable enough and not broken and that’s it. I can write any article on the most niche topic imaginable whilst talking in caveman speak and be goddamn proud of it.

My point is that I think the modern internet has rotted my brain into believing that if the thing I’m doing is not of professional-grade quality, it’s not even worth it, and it’s making me forget that the carefree nature of personal websites and their content is what makes the internet a fun place, especially during the early days where giant megacorpo platforms like YouTube and the-platform-previously-known-as-Twitter¹ either didn’t exist or were seen as just another platform to hang out on.
